Grow PA: Driving Economic Growth in the Keystone State

Posted Tuesday, September 12th, 2017

Programs & Events, Economy, Frontpage 1, home-inthenews-1

For the first time in 31 years, Pennsylvania’s population dropped by more than 7,600 residents in 2016, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Between July 2015 and July 2016, almost 46,000 Pennsylvanians left the Commonwealth. In fact, Pennsylvania is one of only eight states to lose population over the 12-month period. In addition, Pennsylvania’s employment rate lags the national rate by the widest gap in more than three decades.

To address this decline, the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia is calling on Pennsylvania’s private and non-profit sectors to take the lead in creating an economic agenda for growth – Grow PA. This agenda will influence the candidates’ platforms for the 2018 Governor’s race & General Assembly’s race and beyond.

Grow PA seeks to convene people and organizations in key sectors in Pennsylvania to establish a modern agenda for the 21st century that transforms post-secondary education, modernizes all facets of our infrastructure, and accelerates the development of innovation in health care and delivery.

Through a partnership with Technical.ly, we’ve created an online news gathering entity at grow-PA.com, where we are sharing the innovative projects happening across the Commonwealth, telling the extraordinary stories about the people and organizations leading the way.

We encourage all to take action to grow our Keystone State. Join the coalition of Pennsylvanians who care about economic growth by:

1. Signing up to receive the Grow PA online newsletter.

This weekly newsletter takes a look at the real direct economic growth strategies seen in the Commonwealth and shares links and voices from across the communities. Sign up here: technical.ly/grow-pa-newsletter-sign

2. Checking out the Grow PA site.

Share the newsletter and site with your membership and contacts. The more people signed up, the bigger the coalition we have to influence the candidates’ platforms for the 2018 races. Visit the site: grow-PA.com

3. Taking our Grow PA Perception Survey.

This survey is designed to get an understanding of Pennsylvania’s business relationship between counties. The results of this survey will help us to gain a better understanding of each county’s perception of the rest of the Commonwealth – which will help us to create an economic growth agenda at our November 15 event. Take the survey: chmbr.biz/growpa-perceptionsurvey

4. Joining us in our state capital for our Grow PA program and reception.
